We visited both of these towns on our way from Kalabaka to Thessaloniki. Veria is a nice town to walk around with lots of churches. It is also nicknamed Little Jerusalem. We found just a perfect cafe opposite the main parking house where they had a nice play area for kids. We spend quite some time there while the kids were busy playing.

Vergina has some great excavations on display in the Royal Tombs Museum. We visited it on International Monument Day and it had free admission otherwise 12 EUR per person. It was a very informative and interesting museum. Photography is not allowed there.
